Frequently Asked Questions

What type of consultation can I book?

Standard Consultations are the most common, however both Brief and Long Consultations are available on request. Brief Consultations may include repeat prescriptions and simple problems while Long Consultations are suitable if you have a list of problems you would like to discuss. Please advise staff when you schedule your appointment if you require less or more time.

What are the operating hours?

The GP Practice is open 8.30am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday while all Allied Health Services are available 9:00am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday.

How will I receive test results?

BCH believes that it is very important to follow up results. Your doctor will discuss with you the best way to do this (usually a follow-up consultation).

In certain circumstances, you may be able to receive results via telephone. This can happen in the following ways.

If your results are normal, a nurse will call you

If your results are urgent, we will contact you straight away

If your Doctor would like to see you to discuss the results– the practice will contact you to organise an appointment

Your Doctor may ask a nurse to contact you to discuss your results

Will you remind me of my consultation?

BCH has a reminder system for clients in which a SMS/letter is sent when you are due for a follow up test result or review.

We will send out an SMS appointment reminder the day before your appointment is scheduled to remind you.

Please inform reception staff immediately of any changes to your contact details.

Can I speak with a doctor over the phone?

BCH appreciates that all phone messages are important and we aim to deal with them as efficiently as we can.

Doctors are not able to take phone calls during consultation sessions.

In the event of an emergency you will be transferred immediately to the practice nurse or doctor.

How can I provide feedback about my experience?
