We are seeking a Paediatric Speech Pathologist with advanced clinical skills and extensive knowledge and experience working with children and young people. About the team

The Child Health and Development (CHAD) team provide a multidisciplinary allied health service for children and young people primarily aged 0-12 years. It is comprised of a dynamic, collaborative and friendly team of occupational therapists, speech pathologists, a physiotherapist, mental health professionals, and a child and family engagement practitioner. Children are supported by several other services within BCH, including dental, continence, nutrition and dietetics, podiatry, physiotherapy, and mental health professionals/Headspace.

About the role

The Senior Paediatric Speech Pathologist (Grade 3) will work within the Child Youth and Families directorate and will be required to provide an efficient, high-quality service to children from across the Bellarine region. You will function as a member of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team, working closely with team members from the CHAD team to promote an integrated and holistic service, including:

  • Providing strong clinical leadership to ensure an engaged, collaborative, and innovative Speech Therapy team.
  • Providing clinical expertise and supervision to the Speech Therapy team.
  • Enhancing the team’s ability to assess, diagnose and treat paediatric conditions.
  • Working alongside the Child Health Manager in supporting staff capacity building, speech pathology service review, development, and growth.
  • Supporting quality improvement activities, including the review and implementation of clinical service delivery models to enhance service quality, outcomes and demand management
  • Supporting multi-disciplinary team collaboration and transdisciplinary models of support.
  • Supporting the development of an early career/graduate pathway and the coordination of Speech student placements.
  • Provision of high-quality speech pathology services to children and families.

To be successful you will require:

  • Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology (Bachelor or Masters), and registration with Speech Pathology Australia.
  • Minimum of 7 years post qualifying professional practice.
  • Advanced clinical skills and demonstrated experience in teaching, mentoring, supervision and support of Speech Pathologists and students.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience working with children, young people and their families conducting assessments and delivering speech pathology intervention-based services and programs within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience leading, or high-level involvement with, quality improvement initiatives, clinical leadership, or in change management.
