The Youth Guerrilla Garden was established in 2021 behind headspace Ocean Grove.
The Youth Guerrilla Garden is the first dedicated youth community garden on the Bellarine Peninsula. The Garden was established through seed funding from VicHealth and supported through DFFH Engage 2022-25 funding.
From July 2023, The BCH Youth Health and Wellbeing team, who operate headspace Ocean Grove, took over the management of the Garden.
The garden is now used primarily as a safe and mindful space for the young people accessing headspace services.
With their passion for youth health and wellbeing, the BCH Youth team are perfectly placed to ensure the garden is an inclusive, safe and supportive space for youth.
They are excited to explore opportunities to continue to engage young people in learning and engaging with the garden and the produce grown there.
The Healthy and Connected Communities team are thrilled to hand over the reins to the Youth team, knowing that the garden will continue to be such a positive and thriving space for local young people, and the amazing impact it will continue to have on the Bellarine community.
