Fay Agterhuis (Chair) has lived on the Bellarine with her family for over 20 years and during that time has worked closely with many community and service organisations. She is currently the Principal of Point Lonsdale Primary School and has a strong connection to families and younger people across the broader Bellarine communities.
Fay’s previous roles in rural communities focussed on education and meeting the needs of diverse groups including disengaged younger people, isolated families and those involved in adult and special education programs.
Her work with, and advocacy for, young people, families, schools, the disability sector and community groups has provided her with the insight and knowledge of the Bellarine community required to support the organisation in moving forward and meeting the challenges inherent in providing quality community health services.
Anyone who has worked with Fay, will attest to her skills and knowledge, but more particularly to her commitment to the community through engaging in conversations, listening to and advocacy for the broader community.
The skills gained as a teacher, consultant, facilitator, project manager and leader serve her well as a Director on a daily basis. Inclusion and compassion guide much of Fay’s work on a day–to–day basis.
Fay is currently in her second term as chair of the Board of Bellarine Community Health and her third year as a director. She is passionate about community and community building and the critical role Community Health has in sustaining and supporting the communities they serve.
