Escape the Vape for World No Tobacco Day
World No Tobacco Day is on the 31st of May each year. This year, the World Health Organisation is focusing on the theme of ‘young people speaking out about the tobacco industry’. Here you can find out more about their work to amplify the voices of young people for their campaign this year.
Locally, we are promoting a campaign called ‘Escape the vape’.
The BCH Healthy and Connected Communities Team has led the development and design of this campaign, together with other health services and local Government’s via the Regional E-Cigarette and Tobacco Network. This campaign asks our community to tell us how to avoid vaping.
What could you do? what could you say? to avoid vaping.
People of all ages can tell us via the online survey. We hope to showcase the findings in a follow up campaign to give young people ideas, one liners and strategies to say no to vaping in everyday life.
Further to this, QUIT Victoria has released videos and are prompting a campaign across the state, ‘sounds like’ and ‘beat the cravings’, their work can be found here.
If you or someone you know needs support with their smoking or vaping, you can find the list of services here. Or contact the BCH headspace team about our services to support 12-25 year olds to understand, reduce or quit smoking and vaping.
