Social Support

Keeping socially, physically and mentally active is vital to our overall health and is also an important part of staying well as you age but sometimes it can be hard to know where to start.

Bellarine Community Health Social Support Program supports people to connect to their community, live independently in their home for as long as possible with a focus on working with you, rather than doing for you.  We welcome people from diverse backgrounds with provisions for individual and cultural needs.

Why Join A Social Support Group?

By participating in a range of enjoyable and meaningful activities, people can enhance, practice, or maintain their skills and enjoy social contact with others.

The weekly groups encourage participants to remain physically active while continuing to engage mentally and socially with friends and the broader community, helping to reduce the impact and conditions associated with community socialisation and isolation.  Morning, afternoon tea and lunch is available.

What does the program offer?

The program offers a warm, caring environment and an opportunity to make friends.  The Social Support program works with participants in tailoring activities and programs that support their interests, such as:

  • Games and activities
  • Art, craft and music
  • Gardening
  • Gentle exercise
  • Guest speakers and general discussions
  • Activities to stimulate mind and memory
  • Participation in local projects
  • Outings to local venues
